Coverings 2009
Putting the focus on education
Windy City edition to showcase industry experts

Chicago-A major component of Coverings that has flourished over the years has been its seminar programming. Careful planning and investment throughout the show's history have resulted in a diverse menu of sessions, totaling nearly 70 in 2009, that offers something for every sector of attendees: retailers, distributors, manufacturers, fabricators and installers, as well as architects and designers.
The attention paid by show organizers to this facet manifests itself in a number of ways; for example, instead of one keynote speaker for the entire event, Coverings 2009, which gets under way Tuesday, April 21, and runs through Friday, April 24, at McCormick Place here, now features a headliner for each conference track. Also, most of the classroom programs offer CEU credits from AIA, ASID or NKBA, and all are entirely free of charge. And there's no limit to how many sessions show goers can attend.

Ceramic Tiles of Italy announces 2008 design winners
Confindustria Ceramica and the Italian Trade Commission (ITC) announced the winners of the 2008 Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the competition, recognizes North American architects who design projects employing innovative uses of Italian ceramic tile. Prizes ($5,000 to each winner) are awarded for excellence in residential, commercial and institutional architecture. 'there was a tie this year in the residential category," said a spokeswoman for Ceramic Tiles of Italy. The two awards were given to Division 1 Architects of Silver Spring, Md., for the Roberts Residence in Bethesda, Md., which made extensive use of Italian tile on both the exterior and the interior of the hou.....
